Viper deploys an array of poisonous chemical devices to control the battlefield and cripple the enemy’s vision. This makes her seem like a rusher but not exactly. Her abilities make her, like Omen, a very well balanced agent across all play styles. Anyone who wants the ability to play a rusher, support role, or anchor role when needed should play this character.

Viper Overview Infographic

We put together a Viper overview infographic that has the best loadouts, strengths, weaknesses, abilities and info as we currently have during this beta release of Valorant.  Make sure to share with your friends and check back here to get the latest updates.  This guide is a work in progress and we will keep it as up to date as possible.

Table of Contents

Strengths

  • Unquestionable the queen of area denial.
  • Challenging to uproot when she’s bunkered down in a single location.
  • Pairs well with other area denial Agents or those that utilize vision.
  • Viper’s Pit is incredible for defending a bomb and/or defusing.

Weaknesses

  • Fairly static playstyle.
  • Lacks the damage burst of Agents such as Phoenix.
  • No real utility outside of denying vision.
  • Her abilities require fuel, which isn’t infinite.

Viper's Abilities

Toxic Screen (Signature)

Toxic Screen deploys a line of emitters creating a poison wall similar to Phoenixs’ Blaze ability. The screen can be used to create a path blocking the enemy and, if they cross it, causing damage. This can also be used to create a distraction and reposition yourself and allow teammates to also reposition.

Viper's Pit (Ultimate)

Viper’s Pit emits a massive toxic cloud in a large area that lasts as long as Viper stays inside the cloud. Enemies inside the cloud are highlighted to Viper. This can be used in many ways. The most efficient way this can be used is when defending when planting on the objective. Once planted, Viper can use this to create a massive toxic cloud and wait for enemy players to enter and try to defuse the object giving the player a chance to strike and kill the enemy one by one without knowing their whereabouts.

Snakebite

Snakebite fires a projectile that explodes into a pool of damaging acid. This can be used while being a rusher to get the first bit of damage in before firing to soften your target up. Or you could use this as a distraction to keep enemies from progressing temporarily as you take care of someone else or just trying to fall back.

Poison Cloud

Poison Cloud throws a gas emitter that you can reactivate to create a poisonous smoke cloud at the cost of fuel. The emitter can be picked up and thrown again after a shot cooldown. This creates the ability to lay a trap for an enemy and assault them.

Loadout

Rush

Viper is an interestingly balanced agent when it comes to her playstyle. Given her abilities and balanced playstyle, her loadout really depends on what you play. For a rush playstyle the following would work because of the rate of fire and damage output.

  • Primary – Ares LMG or Guardian Assault Rifle
  • Secondary – Frenzy Pistol or Ghost Pistol

Either of these work great for a support playstyle because the Ares LMG allows you to support your team by laying down fire at the enemy and forcing them to keep them behind cover. On the other hand, if you go with the Guardian assault rifle it creates the ability to support your team by keeping your distance but yet still being effective.

Anchor

Now if you decide to anchor instead of the other choices. We recommend the following:

  • Primary – Operator Sniper Rifle
  • Secondary – Frenzy Pistol or Ghost Pistol

Reason for this is because as an anchor, your job is to defend the objectives. With this loadout you have the ability to keep your distance and pick off enemies one by one when they try to get into the objective. Best played by keeping your distance and keeping your eyes open for audio of movement, gunshots or even abilities being used.
